Summary

  • build-aux/debian/: the debian/ directory for a Debian packaging repo on Salsa. debhelper 14 + dh-python, module in /usr/share/gknowledge, man pages for gknowledge and gknowledge-mcp, copyright covering the CC0 AppStream metadata, watch for new tags.
  • docs/packaging/debian.md: how to build and check it, the steps into Debian (ITP, Debian GNOME team, sponsor, NEW queue) and from there into Ubuntu universe, with the ITP and the team message ready to send.

Our own .deb script (build-aux/deb/build-deb.sh) is unchanged.

Testing

In a debian:sid container, from the v0.2.2 tag tarball:

  • dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc builds; the core tests run during the build and pass.
  • lintian -I --pedantic: only the placeholder ITP bug number (filled in once the ITP is filed) plus informational notes.
  • The package installs, the GTK 4 / Libadwaita module imports, both launchers start, and the man pages render.

Follow-up

File the ITP, then replace #XXXXXX in build-aux/debian/changelog.

馃 Generated with Claude Code

build-aux/debian is the debian/ directory for a Salsa packaging repo:
debhelper 14 with dh-python, the module in a private directory, man
pages for both commands, and a copyright file covering the CC0
AppStream metadata. It builds in debian:sid, runs the core tests and
is lintian-clean apart from the ITP number still to be filed.

docs/packaging/debian.md lists the steps (ITP, Debian GNOME team,
sponsor, NEW) and holds the ITP and team message ready to send.
